WHAT IS FREEDOM?
This Central Saint Martins project challenged Lenett to use research as the foundation for experimental fashion design, focusing on craft-based techniques and alternative construction methods. Without relying on industrial sewing, he explored seams as creative sites through knotting, weaving, hand stitching, and bonding, transforming function into innovation. The project culminated in a garment and a one-minute fashion film that captured both the design process and the narrative behind it.
SHORT FILM
This one-minute short film explores the duality of motorcycle riding in relation to freedom. From the euphoric feeling at high speeds to the tranquil rapture of long ventures, it highlights both the beauty and the chaos of the ride. At its core is a conversation about what it means to feel free in moments of high risk, when exhilaration and danger intertwine. The split-screen format extends that dialogue visually, revealing where your interests align through what your eyes are drawn to.
SKETCHBOOK
FINAL GARMENT
The final garment is an all-leather biker vest, incorporating authentic hardware sourced from FWR Motorcycle Tyres and Service in London, England. Constructed from five panels, the vest is joined with leather fringe and varied lacing techniques, emphasizing both durability and handcraft. Hardware placement across the chest references the raw utility and customization found in motorcycle culture, while the asymmetry of the fastening reflects movement and individuality. A chain is fixed across the upper back, designed for hanging purposes and reinforcing the garment’s industrial character.
